Meet Hank
My name is Henry Virga, and I have been satisfying my customers with top-notch food and service through my BBQ catering business since 1980.

I realize that before you hire me as your caterer, you first want to sit down and speak with me, make certain I’ll meet your needs, please your guests, and provide the service necessary to make it successful and memorable.

If you were sitting in my office right now, you’d ask me some questions. Let me try to answer some of those right here so that you feel comfortable with us, what and how we can serve you, and the overall experience we provide for you.
There are two concepts that set our catering services apart from most others. The first is that we have the capability to prepare all meals on site. That means if you’ve chosen a beautiful location for your event, but they don’t have kitchen facilities (or do, but are unable to accommodate the amount of guests you have), you don’t have to worry. We bring the pots and the pans and the grill and the smokers – and whatever else is needed – with us. There is an added benefit to this. Many caterers will cook their food somewhere else, and then shove it into warming trays or chafing dishes. By the time it gets to your guests, you don’t know how long it has been sitting there. And the taste? Well, let’s just say freshness is a taste you can’t reproduce by serving warmed-over food. With us, you’ll see – and smell the aroma – of your delicious meals cooking right in front of you. Our other claim to fame is that we are obsessively on time. We want your guests to receive their meals hot and fresh, but we don’t want to make them wait around, either, especially when they’re hungry. So we make sure all is ready when you tell us it needs to be ready.
Not at all. We also provide catering to high-end corporate events and formal occasions. Our “Black and White Affairs” packages are specially designed for black-tie events such as weddings. That’s why we maintain such a high standard of food quality and service, and why we always get repeat business for these functions. (Our big corporate clients would never forgive us – or keep coming back – if we didn’t provide a first-class experience every time … which is what we want to do for you.)
You’d expect that from a company named Hickory Hank’s Bar-B-Q, wouldn’t you? But that is not the case. We offer other specialties such as some of the best tri-tip steak you’ll ever taste, thick and juicy slabs of prime rib, tasty hot links that we make ourselves, delicious hors d’oeuvres, as well as our special pizza made with our own homemade dough. However, you are not confined to just these choices. We can prepare a truly gourmet catering menu for you on demand. After all, you know your guests better than we do, and we want you to be able to feed them what they like, in an atmosphere of exceptional quality and service.
We can accommodate virtually any size function. We can do seated meals or buffet catering. We’ve served as many as 2,500 at a time, but I’m sure we can handle more. You game?
Of course, it all depends on the type of food and amount of people. But I will say this: I have been told on numerous occasions that our prices are amazingly reasonable. For example, our burger-and-dog platters can start at as little as $10.95 per person, or $13.95 for barbecue. Even our “Black and White Affairs” for weddings and other formal and private events start at only $16.95 per person. Whatever the function, one thing is certain: you won’t walk away hungry.
Not only do we make our own special barbecue sauce, I build my own commercial-grade equipment. My dad was a sheet metal worker, and I’ve done construction work and was a helicopter mechanic (and pilot) in the U.S. Army. With that kind of background, I learned how to put things together quite well. This way, I’m guaranteed that the kind of equipment I use is custom-designed to meet my needs – and, by extension, yours.

One Last Thing

Speaking of my dad, he taught me one of the most valuable lessons I’ve ever learned. He said, “A man is only as good as his word.” So I stand behind mine, and so does my team. It’s why so many of our customers keep coming back and why I’m certain you will too. This is not just my business – it’s my passion. You have to love what you do and the people you serve. There’s no other way I could have kept so many customers happy for so long.

Any caterer can provide food. But as I like to say, “Hickory Hank’s doesn’t just serve great food, we make great memories.” Want to know more or schedule your event? Contact me personally today.
